H. C. R. 6--"Naming the newly constructed bridge on County Route 9 in Taylorville, West Virginia the 'Wirt Marcum Memorial Bridge' in honor of the Mingo County native."
Whereas, Mr. Marcum was a resident of Taylorville for forty-one years, and Mr. Marcum owned the property where the bridge was built; and
Whereas, Mr. Marcum was born in Wayne County on December 24, 1923 and died on December 4, 1991; and
Whereas, Mr. Marcum was a highly recognized community leader and businessman for forty-one years in his town, and a veteran of the United States Armed Services; and
Whereas, Mr. Marcum was very admirable and helpful while serving as a role model to the youth in his area; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the newly constructed bridge in Taylorville is hereby named and shall be known as the Wirt Marcum Memorial Bridge; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates be directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor, and to the family of the late Mr. Marcum.
